This type of plant has been bred for things such as: fiber for making clothes and rope, oil for creating salad dressings, seeds for eating as they have a perfect balance of Omega 3's to Omega 6's, etc. This is the hemp that has been growing for over 10,000 years. And in all this time, we have not heard about people smoking it or consuming it for CBD. And, there is a reason for it. These plants are not bred for CBD consumption. This means that you breed out the Cannabinoids (THC, CBD, CBC, CBG, etc) and other important plant compounds such as terpenes (what gives cannabis its aroma) so that the plant doesn't waste energy on producing these compounds. Since CBD Isolate is the broken down form of pure CBD, it doesn't matter where it is sourced from. Although some CBD Isolate will have more hexane residue in it, the quality will all be very similar. How to make medical THC CBD Cannabis oil using 99% isopropyl alcohol and a smartstill at home. A smartstill isnt necessary but does help in reclaiming the isopropyl and is also a safer and more enviromentally sound method. The oil is being used as a treatment and preventative for a stage 2 Astrocytoma brain cancer / tumour as well as helping out with other symptoms resulting from this wretched tumour. Make sure you get 99.9% isopropyl or better, to clean your isopropyl further you can run it through your smart still first to filter any salt or water left in it. Instructions Carefully dry your flowers and remove from stalks. Break down flowers over tray. Decarboxylate at around 116c 240f for no more than 60 minutes or so, the idea here is to THCA and CBDA into THC and CBD. You only need to do this if you are going to take cannabis orally or as a tincture. If you are smoking/vaping then decarboxylation happens when it is heated by flame or element. Soak your dried flowers in isopropyl alcohol. The longer you soak the more compounds will leach from the plant matter into the solvent(iso). Some say 30 seconds is more than long enough to strip out the thc and cbd which it is and it will be very clean and pure. Our method involves around 3 minutes so that we can strip out more of the waxes and oils and other beneficial medicinal compounds that are present and more desirable for our purpose. Filter through some coffee paper into a pyrex dish. Pyrex isnt absolutely necessary but helps in letting you see whats going on and the ammounts. The iso can now be left to evaporate naturally or recaptured using the smartstill. The evaporation is done in a smart still as it recondenses it is then captured again back in its pure form. Keep an eye on the level and remove when there is a centimeter or so left at the bottom. Place in a pyrex dish and allow to reduce further on a hot plate again at low temperatures and in a well ventilated area. Add a few drops 5ml of water as it gets thicker, the alcohol will evaporate leaving a little water an oil whidh will evaporate further. Once the water has gone you will have pure oil.
