Dr. Hervé DeMoss, tell us why this cannabis, this hemp, is good. It goes a long ways back. You already got people on Twitter calling you a good storyteller, so I know they're just like posing up to the speaker. Grab a seat. So if we look at the history of that plant, the hemp plant, originally it was part of uh man's medicine cabinet for i think we can date back to written recordings of of of people using hemp as as late or as early as 8 000 bc we've got some pictograms uh that's older than the bible yeah we're talking about a long time ago right And we're looking at this plant. Cannabis hemp is a subspecies. It's actually a sister plant of the cannabis plant. It grows to have low THC content, usually about 1% THC. THC is the molecule which we refer to as cannabinoids, which makes you high. So you should tell people if you're confused, THC is the high component, right? And CBD cares for your body. Really. So you can break it down that way and you understand which one gets you high and which one does other ones. Right. It's not that simple, but it's a starting point. So we've been using hemp or cannabis in some form for at least a thousand years. We've been using it in the form of teas, boiling it down and making salves for it. It's a great analgesic, which means painkiller. So if you've looked at the way that the plant has been used over the millennia, it's been used for anything from menstrual cramps, post-birth pain, bumps, bruises, you know, a number... Topically? Topically, right? So you rub it on your body. It's a great anti-inflammatory. And what's happened... Uh, what really happened was in the 1930s, we had the, uh, marijuana prohibition, uh, and tax act, right? 1937. And that really started to change. It really ruined the hemp industry in the U S there were a couple of things, um, hemp besides having this medicinal properties from cannabinoids, THC and CBD hemp was major source of textiles, which are the raw material for clothing, right? We use it for papers for paper, um, We can use it for concrete. So it was really... Concrete? Concrete, yeah, hempcrete. You use hemp for plastics now we use it. And then in certain applications, you can use hemp for graphene, which is used in computer chips. So it's a plant that has a lot of uses. But back then, it was really used for textiles, some medicinal... Even before then, it was a competition for cotton. Correct. And it grows freely. So you've been doing your reading. That's right. I read Behold the White Horse. I don't know how scientific that is. Behold the Pale Horse. Behold the Pale. So before the cotton gin... Before the cotton gin, hemp was our predominant source of textiles, right? Cotton gin was invented, and now you can get 100 slaves to do the work of 1,000. So I can go to this cotton and get this stuff, right? I got this machine that will make it happen a lot quicker than if I have all these manual laborers out here. So fully with this hemp stuff, I can get this cotton stuff to do it. And that's pretty much started that in terms of its industrial uses. And that also expanded the slave industry because now they needed more cotton to feed the gin. And more bodies to pick the cotton. So you can be like, you're basically, you know, what would they use? The term now would be scalability. Wow. And so hemp had to be illegal because it was competing economically with the cotton and the bodies and the jam. So you had the cotton. But you got to demonize it before you make it illegal. You have to demonize it. Yeah. So you also had a couple of other players in the space. You had Bayer Aspirin, which had lost its patent, its exclusivity to aspirin itself so that you can make generic versions of aspirin. Yeah. And so hemp was an analgesic that was used a lot. People were using cannabis, and not only hemp, but just like straight-up cannabis. Like, hey, tinctures were a big thing. You know, a lot of people used that. So if I have this hemp tincture, I don't need to go to the pharmacy and buy your bottled aspirin? I don't need to buy your bottled aspirin. That's got to be a financial hit. Yeah, your acetaminophen. I don't need to buy this stuff because I already have a connection to this other thing. And it grows in my backyard. freely really yeah they call it weed because it was a weed it just grows actually we actually transported it so if you follow the migration of come on black people it's it's uh it hasn't been dispersed throughout the planet along traditional lines of disbursement so you look at either insects or birds or wind or water, you know, kind of dispersing plants or vegetation. It's actually followed man's migration patterns. Today I'm talking about CBD oil and insomnia. Personally, I've had trouble sleeping for several years, since I became an attending and started working more hours. Surprisingly to me, my attending hours and call turned out to be more than my hours and call in training, leading to trouble sleeping. So I'm always interested in hearing what other people's sleep solutions are. In the last year or so I've heard a lot of bloggers talk about CBD oil for insomnia, so I wanted to know what medical studies there were to support this. CBD oil that comes from hemp is meant to have little to no THC, less than 0.3-0.5% depending on your state's regulations. CBD oil can also come from marijuana, that has more THC in it. THC is the part that gives people the feeling of being high. So you're not supposed to get the high effects you’d get from marijuana, but you're still supposed to get the calming effects. CBD oil made from hemp is legal in all 50 states. Looking at the research, there's not a lot of research on CBD oil yet. Some of the research shows it can actually make you more alert. Some research shows it could help you sleep, so it's mixed data on whether or not it could help you sleep. Although people do say that it helps them sleep. Potentially the difference is because of dosing, at higher doses it could be more likely to help you sleep. Some studies theorize potentially it helps with anxiety, so if you have trouble sleeping because of anxiety, then it could help calm your anxiety and then help you sleep better or better regulate your sleep cycle. I recommend if you want to try CBD oil, because there’s so much variation from study to study, even on dosing, and a lot of variation from brand to brand that you try it with a doctor who specializes in CBD or marijuana. They should have experience with the dosing from working with patients, and that likely is the best way to try it and also have more experience with different brands and manufacturers. Because anytime you're trying supplements, even if they're natural, there's always a risk of side effects, so that's something to watch out for. Common ones with CBD oil are mood changes, nausea, and diarrhea. Also, it could make you more awake, it could make you more sleepy, it's hard to say because it also depends on your body's absorption and metabolism. So I recommend you work with a doctor who specializes in this, that would be the best way to try it. Personally, I'm not going to try it myself because I don't like taking things if I don't have to, I'm always concerned about potential side effects. So far I've found meditation has helped me the most, so I definitely recommend you try that first. Also, I recommend you try the traditional things like exercising more, cutting caffeine, light therapy, and even the nontraditional things like weighted blankets, etc. before you try something that you have to put in your body, then you have the potential for side effects. Although if you're taking a prescription sleep agent, like Ambien, CBD oil is supposed to have fewer side effects than prescription sleep medications. So that would be a reason to consider switching. But again I recommend you do this with a doctor who specializes in marijuana or CBD to help you with the dose adjustments, which brands are reliable, etc. For more science-backed health and nutrition tips: Follow me on Instagram @healthywithdrmonali Follow me on Twitter @drmonalidesai Subscribe to my YouTube channel Dr. Monali Desai

When it comes to detoxing from marijuana, having the right tools at your disposal can make all the difference. Whether you’re looking to pass a drug test or just want to cleanse your body of THC, having a marijuana detox kit can help you achieve your goals. From detox drinks to herbal supplements, there are a variety of products on the market that claim to help you detox from marijuana. In this article, we’ll explore the essential components of a marijuana detox kit and how they can aid in the detoxification process.

Detox Drinks

One of the most popular components of a marijuana detox kit is detox drinks. These beverages are specially formulated to help flush toxins from your body, including THC. Detox drinks typically contain a combination of vitamins, minerals, and herbal extracts that work to cleanse your system and boost your metabolism. When used as directed, detox drinks can help you pass a drug test and achieve a clean bill of health.

Some detox drinks come in pre-packaged bottles that you can simply drink on the go, while others require you to mix a powder with water and consume it at certain intervals. It’s important to follow the instructions on the packaging to ensure maximum effectiveness. Additionally, be sure to drink plenty of water and follow a healthy diet while using a detox drink to enhance its effects.

While detox drinks can be effective in helping you cleanse your system of marijuana, it’s important to note that they are not a miracle solution. To maximize their effectiveness, it’s recommended to abstain from marijuana use for at least 48 hours before using a detox drink. Additionally, incorporating exercise and sweating can help speed up the detox process and improve your overall results.

Herbal Supplements

In addition to detox drinks, herbal supplements are another essential component of a marijuana detox kit. These supplements are typically made from natural ingredients such as milk thistle, dandelion root, and burdock root, which are known for their detoxifying properties. Herbal supplements work by supporting your liver and kidneys, the primary organs responsible for detoxifying your body.

Herbal supplements can help to boost your body’s detoxification process and aid in the elimination of THC and other toxins. They can also help to reduce inflammation, improve digestion, and support overall health and well-being. When used in conjunction with a healthy diet and lifestyle, herbal supplements can be a valuable tool in your marijuana detox toolkit.

When choosing herbal supplements for detoxing from marijuana, it’s important to select high-quality products from reputable brands. Look for supplements that are made from organic ingredients and free from fillers, additives, and artificial preservatives. It’s also a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider or herbalist before starting any new supplement regimen.

Home Test Kits

Home test kits are another essential component of a marijuana detox kit. These kits allow you to test yourself for the presence of THC and other drugs in the comfort of your own home. Home test kits are easy to use and provide quick and accurate results, giving you peace of mind during the detox process.

Using a home test kit can help you track your progress as you detox from marijuana and determine whether you are ready to take a drug test. These kits can also be useful for monitoring the effectiveness of detox products such as detox drinks and herbal supplements. By testing yourself regularly, you can ensure that you are on the right track to a clean system.

Home test kits are readily available online and at many drug stores. They come in a variety of formats, including urine tests, saliva tests, and hair tests. Some kits even offer the option to test for multiple substances, including marijuana, cocaine, and opioids. Choose a test kit that best suits your needs and provides the most accurate results.
